I'd like to jump on the back of T30SB's train and write my own "I Wish Wednesday". Just this once, just this Wednesday. Why are linens so expensive to rent? I've found several prices, the cheapest of which was $34. There must be somewhere that I can purchase them wholesale and sell afterwards to recoup some of my costs. I'm having a full blown love affair with pintuck linens. Why is this happening to me? I was able to "just say no" when the concept of chivari chairs came to mind. Yes, they're beautiful and perfect in every. single. way. But I'd rather keep that extra $6.50 per chair (that's $650 for 100 chairs, fyi) and put it towards something else. So why am I flipping out over Pintucks? Oh, because they're so shiny and luminous, and everyone notices what's on the table!
I don't want Royal Lame, or Royal Polyester. I want Royal Pintuck! Okay, I will stop holding my breath and jumping up and down on the kitchen floor. The bargain itch is starting to creep up on me. I will find a better deal for these linens.

I am totally with you. I have a love affair with linens, especially BBJ. I always use them for my work events but now that it's my money I'm working with, I'm not quite so eager! The pintuck is so pretty in person!!
Linens were literally the BANE of my existence for the first 3-4 months of wedding planning. Too expensive - not the right material - wrong color...does no one understand what the color eggplant is? Because it is not royal purple...I feel your pain! Keep looking, that's all that I can tell you. My MOH actually found mine for a steal...
I'm with you! I simplified my color scheme to neutrals because I didn't want the headache of matching linens to an "odd" color. I'm going as simple as possible on the linens and my mom and I are making the overlays. I love pintucks too! I hope you can find them out there. Been seeing lots of linens for sale on Bravo Bride. Good luck!
I can't remember what your budget is but I think it is somewhere around mine... I'm using BBJ and love them! If you have specialty linens on your tables, you won't really need elaborate floral arrangements so its definitely something worth thinking about. You should check them out if you haven't already!
I hope you get it worked out!! When you find what you love ... just get it and maybe barter with them :)
i loved them too. totally loved them. but then i thought... ummm 2 tables for that price? or one? and it was pretty easy. who else will notice the linens? like 5 people? all of them people like us. :) but if your heart is totally set on them... you did save the money on the shivaris. :)
Little Spoon has gone through the gamut of linen angst, too. My only guess as to why they're so expensive is because of the cleaning that has to be done on them after every rental. However, buying them isn't really an option, either, as it's just about as expensive - and what would you do with them after the wedding?
Oh good gracious, I know exactly where your obsession is coming from! I am having the same problem as you; my pintuck linen quotes are all about $34 or more...but I MUST have them! I am wondering if I could buy the darn fabric and sew some tablecloths...could it be that hard???
Aw, thanks for the shout out SE! I've been missing your blog because I'm SWAMPED! You can have an I Wish Wednesday if you want to! What about an Obsession Session Monday? Or a Too Much Tuesday? Freak Out Friday? You could channel Rachel Zoe for n "I Die" Thursday?
Sorry, digression happens.
Here's my 2-cents, for what it's worth! I don't think linens are a big deal at all. In fact, I could really care less. I even think a lot of them are tacky. I hate shiny. I hate chair covers (but I do loves me some chivari!). I like simple matte fabrics - it's what's on top that I'm obsessed with.
My friend who got married last year says it's the single thing she wished she had NOT spent her money on - the linens.
swoon...I love pintuck myself. If you can't afford the whole room, rent ones for the cake table, your table and your escort card table (if you have one). Those are the high impact tables that will be photographed the most!

This site has some great linens at very reasonable prices, especially if you think you can reuse or sell them after the wedding. I stumbled across the site last week, so I haven't purchased anything myself---but the prices look great!
I have had the same problem but have found a place to rent them for $25 each down in Montgomery, AL which is only 4 hours away from Nashville. The Chivari Chairs I have found for $4.50 in Huntsville. I sent an inquire to them but have not heard from them. Love the pintucks myself so I am actually on line right now trying to find the best price. If I find anything, I will let you know but in the meantime, have you thought about doing white down to the floor in polyester and then getting a square overlay. Brendle Rentals in Montgomery only charges like $8 each for that. Good luck!
