Olympics Update: Tape Delay

Are you fully into the Olympics like I am? These games have been super fun to watch, but there's been a huge hiccup that's upset a lot of folks. Hello NBC, I'm talking to you. Why are you tape delaying Olympic games that are only 6-9 hrs ahead of time zones in the United States. I've had several events ruined for me so far, so I just instate a social media ban until I watch the coverage. But here's the thing, the official NBCOlympics twitter account (from their US channel) is tweeting live and broadcasting delayed. It seems silly-- and seriously, why aren't we advanced enough to have a channel fully devoted to live Olympic coverage? I, for one, would watch that all day.

Right now I'm watching the men's gymnastics from last night-- and as such avoiding all forms of social media. Have you gotten results spoiled yet? What are you doing to still watch the games with suspense?

London 2012

It feels like Christmas morning at our house! Ryan and I have been looking forward to the games since the US Gymnastics team was robbed in 2008. What events are you most looking forward to?

Baby Addison: 16 Weeks

Here's a 16 week picture. It's more like 16.5, but the stickers were pre ordered :) Baby Addison is growing like a weed and I can't believe the bump I already have-- definitely didn't expect this for a little bit! Luckily I work from home and haven't needed to purchase too many maternity clothes. This tank top/shorts combo is what I wear most days.

Oh, and I cut 4" off my hair on Thursday. Please excuse the post nap hair.

Blue Or Pink

No gender party happening here, but we are excited to find out the gender of our little Mister or Miss. We're lucky to be having showers in both of my "homes", Nashville and Virginia. Much to the delight of friends and family, we decided to find out the gender of the baby. Originally I was on team "gender surprise", but Ryan was really excited about the idea and said he could imagine the baby better as a boy or girl.

I know (and know of people it's happened to) that the gender can be predicted wrong. Knowing this, we've decided to do a blue and white nursery regardless of the gender and not monogram things. I just love light blue, and think it's such a calming shade for the walls! Check out my nursery board on Pinterest to see where we are with our ideas. Because we decided to share the gender, we'll be keeping the name a secret. We are pretty set on the first & middle names for a boy, and two final first names for a girl. They're very special names to us, and I can't wait to share with our family and friends in January!

And just for fun, I'll add a poll on the top of the blog where you can vote for boy/girl if you're so inclined! I've got my guess and so does Ryan (ps- they're different). We'll all find out the first week in August

Breaking News: None

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I guess you could say it's because there's nothing exciting going on, but that's just not true. We've got plenty of excitement over here with our Nashville house finally under contract, a baby on the way, and our new house done in a matter of weeks. And I'm working on two Denver weddings in August and October! Or maybe that's why I haven't posted-- there's too much going on?

I feel like all I do is work, sleep, and call Blue Cross. This is a fun one-- they haven't instated my COBRA coverage for June yet (um hello it's July 17th?). Thankfully my United Healthcare started on July 1st with my new company. But lawd. These BCBS folks are keeping me on my toes. No thanks to the completely covered (but claiming to be uncovered) almost $5,000 in pregnancy expenses from June.

I'll resume normal blogging when I sleep less than 10 hrs a night and Blue Cross jumpstarts my backdated coverage for June. Here's hoping you've got a little bit more energy than me!

Look what we received in the mail! I am over the moon excited about our new Ashley Brooke Designs note cards. She did such a great job drawing our family of four! These will be great for showers, and I'll definitely be getting the carriage version once this little Miss/Mr is here. What do you think?

House Progress: We Have Floors

We chose a "warm chocolate" bamboo floor and couldn't be happier!

We're still waiting for the back side of the island to be wrapped. As a reminder, it'll be "kona" like the other side of the island. We decided that because the island was dark, we wanted to continue that look all the way around. The above picture shows why we ended up wrapping.

Magic Mike

Today I had the pleasure of seeing the chick flick wonder that is Magic Mike. All I have to stay is- approve. My date was the lovely Brit and we had a blast giggling like we were 16 again!
