House Progress: We Have Floors

We chose a "warm chocolate" bamboo floor and couldn't be happier!

We're still waiting for the back side of the island to be wrapped. As a reminder, it'll be "kona" like the other side of the island. We decided that because the island was dark, we wanted to continue that look all the way around. The above picture shows why we ended up wrapping.

What do you think of the floors?

House Progress: Granite Installed

It's official, friends. We have a closing date! A lovely Wednesday in early August will mark our ownership of the "Denver house". Today I had to drop Miss Lucy (our schnauzer) at the vet for a teeth cleaning, so I drove two blocks over to check on the progress of the house. Boy am I glad I did! So much has happened since we snuck a peek last weekend.

Our tile has been installed, all granite counter tops, and the banister was installed and stained. To give you a feel, the banister and hardwoods will be the same color. Also, the hole in our island will be the gas range. Our sink is located under the window. Mr. SE wanted this super industrial rectangle single-basin sink, and I'm SO glad I trusted him on it!

Building your own house is a completely new experience to Mr. SE and I. It's such a cool feeling to walk into a home and love everything! There's nothing to change or fix, just decorate!
Kona panels will be wrapped around all sides of the island once the floor is installed.

Ryan's sink. Loves it!

Close up of island. Remember, the kona cabinets will be wrapped around once the floor is installed. Hole is for our gas stove. This marble makes me giddy.

Master bathroom. Looks like mama got her marble counter after all!
Tub/shower granite is placed but not grouted yet. Grout will be white. The floor tiles make me drool.

Guest Bathroom

Yummy Banister. Fireplace w/molding not painted white yet

Great Room, from the back corner. Front door is down the hall to the right (where the light is coming)

House Hunting: Mission Complete

Hi friends! I have some exciting news to share today...we got a house! I alluded to this over the weekend via Twitter, but I didn't want to jinx myself by writing about it until the contract was signed. We're moving into a neighborhood called Stapleton here in Denver. It's a master planned community with AWESOME amenities, and it's incredibly close to downtown. Coming from Nashville, the home prices were quite a shock, but we were able to find a home in our budget that we can grow into. There's a ginormous basement that we'll finish down the road, and we plan on being in this home for awhile to come.

Here's a picture of the same model we're building, but ours will have different colors. The colors were already decided for the build since they already have a permit for it (bonus-- it'll be finished earlier rather than later), and I think our exterior color palette will really make the house pop.
Body: coffee/cappuccino
Trim: dark olive/brown
Door & Accents: black

Here's the floor plan, I'm already excited about working with Abby from A Delightful Design to make this house a showstopper.

Some amenities in the community are below. We are bursting with excitement and cannot wait to move in come late July, early August.

HGTV's 2011 dream home was in the neighborhood!

25 miles of walking and biking paths, rock climbing wall and playground
24 parks, skate park and dog park
Library just for the neighborhood use
3 Elementary Schools (one is 2 blocks from our house)

Dedicated sledding hill
