Cake: Or Not

I'd like to interrupt this incredibly exciting, post-filled day to show you a little something I came across while surfing the net. Yeah, I said it. That way.

You know I love a bargain. Like, I LOVE a bargain. There's nothing that makes me happier than knowing a got an absolutly fantastic deal on things- especially wedding related things. I mean, really. I'm still talking about my wedding dress that I got for three times under my budget.

Another lady that loves a bargain is The Broke-Ass Bride. You might know her from another alias, Mrs. Meatball on Weddingbee. This girl is hilarious! And not only is she funny, but she's smart. Anywho- I could sing her praises all day. While catching up on old posts I came across this fantastic idea for a bargain wedding cake. Yeah, that is a Rice Krispy cake. Awesome!

Would you ever think of doing something like this for your wedding? What's the biggest kick you've gotten out of a wedding bargain? I'd love to hear your stories!

As much as I think that Rice Krispies cake is awesome, I could never do that as the *main* cake at our wedding. Maybe as a separate side dessert or something...actually, I may incorporate something like that as we are having a chocolate fountain at our wedding...perhaps we'll put out a mini rice krispies cake on the choco fountain table? Anyway, the best bargain I've gotten so far? No idea...I have bought all kinds of little things like favors, candles, boxes, etc online for what I think are really great prices. And we've negotiated all of our prices with all of our vendors to less than what they offered on their sites or in their packages. But maybe the best bargain was the flip flops I got (72 pairs of them) for about $1.70 each that we'll be offering to guests who want to kick off their heels on the dance floor :)

Hmm my best bargain yet? Definitely my dress. I spent about 1/8 of what my mom bargained!

As for the Rice Krispies... I don't think I'd do it for my wedding cake. It would be cute for a shower or something, though!

Too cute! I love rice krispies and totally second the shower notion above! I went back and forth on cake, too, and ultimately decided on Hermitage Bakery. They make comparable wedding cakes for less than half the cost of "boutique" bakeries I've found at bridal shows and such.

We've done fairly well with bargain-hunting thus far, but my favorite this week is finding a package of black cardstock in a "fire sale" at work. Hello wedding stationery!
