Big, Beautiful, Balloons: Setting the Scene

I love these balloons from a 1st birthday party featured on Style Me Pretty. Our Lady of Wedding Goodness, Martha , did a spread on these before, and I tend to think there's something so lovely about them. Call me crazy. Balloons haven't always been such a fancy form of decoration, but these are so delightful and fun!

Since our cocktail hour will begin while it's still daylight (5pm), I thought we could use these sporadically up the steps of War Memorial (white, of course). If someone mentioned balloons in our wedding decor, I would've immediately thought klassy. With a K. But now I'm singing a different tune.I'd love to set the scene, really get people excited upon arriving at our cocktail hour & reception. Granted TPAC will place a "private event" sign, but it's really not too pretty. Here's another thought, veiled topiaries (also from Martha). What do you think of large, singular balloons lining the steps of War Memorial. Classy or klassy? And how did you set the tone for guests entering your wedding? As usual, I welcome all comments and ideas.

Pretty as a Peacock

Love this place setting- it's great inspiration for our reception tables. Granted, the table linens will be royal (pintuck obviously) instead of teal, and the charger gold instead of green. But you get the idea. I'm planning on folding our napkins around menu cards, and tucking a little peacock feather in each. I think it'll lend a totally glamorous look to the table, and definitely play off the peacock toned linens w/white and ivory floral arrangements.

*Side note: I lost a follower. Please stay! I promise to be more interesting*

Budget Savvy Inspiration

Last night I got to meet Jessica, Budget Savvy Bride. Seriously, she's every bit as cute in person as she comes across on her blog. And creative to the max! She spoke about areas that she and her husband saved money while planning her wedding. For instance, they wanted burlap table cloths but they ran $40 a piece. Not for this lady- she went to the farmer's co-op and bought a roll of burlap for all the runners for $40. You go girl! After hearing her speak, I was so inspired to have some budget savvy craft projects of my own.
I'll be attempting to make these pomanders myself- blush, of course. I'd love to hang them on the shephard's hooks that line Cedarwood's walkway. They'd also look great on the pews during the ceremony. Would we have time between the ceremony and reception to repurpose? I hope so. Please vote in the form of a comment...

Pomanders:
A. All pomanders different shades of paper (blush, sand, pink, etc)
B. Single shade on each, but several of each shade
