I took advantage of our trip to DC and decided to go dress shopping with Mom SE. As you saw in my last post, we chose to visit David's Bridal first. I have to say that I was honestly pleasantly surprised by the quality of dresses. I hilighted a couple in the catalogue, but I didn't expect them to look so nice in person. There were two that I really liked, and one that I completely fell for. I'll upload pictures later. Along with learning what dress style suits me best, I also worked on discovering my veil "type". I knew I wanted a veil, but wasn't sure what style. Here's what I gathered: no mantilla, and no single layer. I want a BIG. POOFY. STINKING VEIL. Here's some inspiration...

{like this level of poof- but fingertip length}

{this is much too much}
What are your thoughts on veils? To poof or not too poof?

i was the opposite - i wanted to flattest veil you could imagine lol - i had to order it off one of those veil sites where you pick your exact specifications lol.
I love veils! I've decided I'm going with a vintage-looking birdcage veil. Good luck on the dress hunt!
I'm making a hybrid veil - part bubble veil (the ones with a lot of vertical poof) and part birdcage veil.
Really? I don't see you as a big stinky veil kinda gal! But then again, my tree-hugging cousin wore a freakin' tiara. She also looks fabulous. You do your thing!
I'm not a pouf sorta gal myself. To be honest, my veil is coming off as soon as the ceremony ends!
I love the big veils! Unfortunately I have a really freaking big (and round) head, so I have sadly had to come to terms with the fact that the bigger and poofier veils just don't look that great on me. :( I can't wait to see the one that you choose, though!
(And, on a side note, I love the shorter dresses that are in the first photos! I'm currently trying to decide whether I want a shorter dress or a longer one! Ahh. Decisions!)
So when I went wedding dress shopping I pretty much bought anything they put on my head. I walked out with a fingertip veil, another smaller veil thing, and a tiara. I ended up ditching the smaller veil thing that I guess was so supposed to go over my face. My head is big, but even it couldn't handle that much stuff :D
There is something about the veil that really makes you feel like a bride... have fun with it!
I like a little pouf too! Love it.
