Denim Rug

This is the rug that started it all. I spotted this beauty on the Anthropologie website, and knew I should pin it to admire for all eternity. Fast forward to last night, when I was watching a DVR'd episode of Secrets From A Stylist on HGTV, and my little jewel Emily Henderson used the denim rug in her room! Holy happiness! Lo and behold, the couple's color pallet mimicked that of ours in our living room. Fate!
love her- watch her show!
Who knew recycled denim was so chic? I love the deep indigo color, and think this rug would look quite fashionable underneath my new oak pedestal table. The table will be refinished in a walnut color, and look something like the below image.

Here's an Etsy seller that sells a dead ringer for the Anthro version (for much less!)
What do you think about the up-cycled rug?

Mom Cave

(Pottery Barn, le sigh)

Meet my dream desk. Now that the wedding is over, Mr. SE and I are settling into life as a married couple. Life that includes trying to cook healthy meals and turning our new house into a home. Our master bedroom, living room, and kitchen are perfection. Now I'm focused on the guest bedroom, office, and our bonus room. The bonus room will be a real kick to the wallet (hello projection screen and sectional), so I'm working on the office for now.
I've seen a lot of features online lately describing "mom caves", and that's exactly what I have pictured for this room. I'm thinking a crisp, white desk and a corner with a large armchair and a standing lamp. Nothing fancy. Some wispy curtains, and this room will be perfection. I'm looking forward to having a place where I can read and relax.

Do you have a special reading nook in your place? And what do you think of the "mom cave" idea? The man cave has really taken off, and I'm sure that's what our bonus room will end up being. So what's wrong with having a room for the lady of the house to relax in?

House Hunting: Part I

Mr. SE and I are house shopping. Like a lot of young couples, we're trying to take advantage of the $8,000 tax credit and get into a home before November 30th, 2009. We're trying to find a 3 bedroom home for less than $200,000. Ideally, I'd like it to be newer construction because of my allergies. I'm allergic to everything- dust, mold, pollen, dander, you get the point. This is one of the little houses that we have our eye on. It's cute, no? We love the curb appeal and Craftsman styling!

Have any of you recently bought houses or are you currently shopping now? Was it simple to file for the tax credit? I love your advice and your consistent comments, please keep 'em coming!
