House Hunting: Part I

Mr. SE and I are house shopping. Like a lot of young couples, we're trying to take advantage of the $8,000 tax credit and get into a home before November 30th, 2009. We're trying to find a 3 bedroom home for less than $200,000. Ideally, I'd like it to be newer construction because of my allergies. I'm allergic to everything- dust, mold, pollen, dander, you get the point. This is one of the little houses that we have our eye on. It's cute, no? We love the curb appeal and Craftsman styling!

Have any of you recently bought houses or are you currently shopping now? Was it simple to file for the tax credit? I love your advice and your consistent comments, please keep 'em coming!

aww it's adorable! good luck with the house hunting. as much as we would love a house, we just are in no position right now... it's probably going to be 2 years before we can get one... :-( lol.

We looked at some houses JUST LIKE THAT!! New construction is going to be a problem because they can't guarantee to finish before Nov 30th ...and if they don't then you don't get the $8000! We chose Hendersonville and my favorite website to use is musiccityhomesearch.com :) Our house is still showing up on it as "Inspection Contigency Contract" :) so I get to peek at it even though it's not mine yet! :) Let me know if you need anything else! I'm a slacker at email :)

We're in the process of looking now as well. I wish we were looking for a house, but stupid California we are probably going to end up in a condo . . . oh well. Just hope to find something soon.

Very cute! My fiance and I just bought our first house and filing for the tax credit was pretty simple. We realized when searching that the further outside Nashville proper you go, the more you can get for your money. Have you looked anywhere near Mount Juliet? That's where we ended up and we got a 9 year old, 3 bedroom house on a 1 acre lot for less than $200K. :) We LOVE it! Let me know if you need a real estate agent recommendation, ours was awesome!

We just bought a home and we just received our check for the tax credit!! You can file an addendum and get your 8g's this year, so the sooner you buy the better. You have to file by mail, but it only takes 4 to 8 weeks to get the return...BTW, really cute house, love craftsman style! I too have horrible allergies (I'm severly allergic to dust), what do you take, have you found a combo that works to ease the stuffy nose?
