Rolled Chinos: The Look For Less

Emily Thorne- You Know You Love Fashion

I know, today is my last chemo and I really should be getting ready to go to the hospital. BUT I couldn't resist posting this lookalike deal that I saw this morning. Banana Republic has the most adorable rolled skinny chinos, much like the ones Emily wore on the beach in a recent episode of Revenge (looking for a photo). I snagged mine on huge discount and used rewards points so they were almost the price of the Old Navy ones. Can you imagine if I used the rewards on the Old Navy ones? Almost free!

Chambray and Canvas

The temperatures are starting to rise here in Denver, and I've come to terms that my summer wardrobe is not going to make an appearance from our storage unit any time soon. Lesson learned-- pay attention to the order of your belongings when you're whole house is dumped into self storage. In an effort to keep this little endeavor inexpensive, I've been looking to sources like Forever 21 and my standby love, Old Navy. This shorts/top combo caught my eye today (I'm a sucker for green & blue), since the chambray top would make a great early spring transition piece. Picture it with khaki crop pants in late March/April, then shorts in May. Is anybody else itching to wear colorful spring clothes like me?

Sweater Sale at Old Navy

I LOVE SWEATERS! Friends, Old Navy is having a sale tomorrow from 12-5 where all of their adult sweaters are 75% off. Holy cow! With a sale like this, my strategy is normally to buy everything I like-- then bring it all home to see how it fits into my wardrobe. The styles that don't fit will be returned! Old Navy has been quite on trend lately, and while it seems their prices have increased, a sale like this makes them budget friendly again! After selecting images for this post, it's apparent that it's specifically neutral sweaters that have my heart. Here are some of my favorites--

this is men's-- but I'd almost buy a XS for myself!

Opening Day

So I'm a little late on this one- but baseball season is officially here! Since Mr. SE was quite the baseball player, this is the highlight of his year. From now until October, there will be a game playing every single night. Why's that, you ask? Because we have the MLB Ticket, of course!
Nats!

The good news here is that through our collegiate relationship I began to love baseball myself. Foremost because I got to watch my hunky boyfriend be a superstar athlete- but also because I started to actually like the game. One of my favorite parts about baseball is the warm weather that it's played in- not to be confused with the too warm of weather that'll hit you at a 1pm game in July at Turner Field. Yikes!
Turner Field

Being from the DC Area, I have a natural tendency to root for the Nationals- but in marriage I'm a Braves fan. Our joint debit card has the Braves logo on it. Yes, it does. So like any good wife, I made sure that my outfit is game time ready, with lots of navy, red, and white.

My most recent Braves related purchase is this super cute t-shirt from Old Navy. I've purchased their NFL (Redskins/Falcons) and NCAA (UGA) shirts, and the quality is great. Especially considering you can usually find them on sale. Here's what my newest purchase looks like.
Boys Style (a large fit me fine)
Super Cute! But they didn't have these in the store

Do you look forward to baseball season? If so- what's your favorite part? Maybe it's the peanuts, cracker jacks, or just getting to hang out in the warm weather.

Ode To Old Navy Rockstar Jeans

Hi! Please meet the best thing that's happened for my legs, butt, and stomach. I'm not 15 anymore. Pants will never be purchased if they give me a plumber-caboose. So these were like a dream come true! The rise is high enough to be age appropriate, and they look great paired with boots or flats (haven't tried heels yet). They're easy to pull on because of the stretch, but tight enough that they feel just like Spanx! The best part is that these jeans only ran me $20 a pair.

I purchased them in black and dark indigo. Love.

Is there something you've picked up for fall/winter that you're just as excited about?

Fall Fun

Mr. SE and I are enjoying life after the wedding SO much. Lots of people ask whether things have "changed" and I always reply with an enthusiastic "Yes! We don't have plans anymore!" And it's so true. Life before the wedding is running here, running there, and crossing items off an enormous to-do list. Now the only item on our list is to cherish each other and enjoy every day together! (and some to-do items that pop up from Bed Bath and Beyond, Target, or Lowe's)

September started off great with us enjoying lots of football, and cheering on our hometowns. Mr. SE is a Falcons guy, and I love the Redskins! Which brings me to my fun purchases over the past month....

Amazing NFL t-shirts from Old Navy; they're so soft and feel like you've owned them for 10 years. I bought both the Falcons and Redskins ones.

Sweaters! The #1 reason that I semi-enjoy cold weather. I love a good sweater, especially with some great layers of tissue tees underneath. This one caught my eye (dare I say) before September, and I swiftly picked it up.

OPI Russian Navy. There's already two colors (Bastille My Heart, Lincoln Park After Dark) in my fall/winter OPI rotation and I was pleased to add another.
I first saw these boots on Piperlime but obviously bought through Zappos because I live for that company. The leather is so buttery, and I love that you can wear them up or down. These could potentially be worn with jeggings for winter. More on those later- but I'm definitely considering it.

That's all for me! Have you done any fall shopping yet? I'd love to hear what things you've picked up to make your transition into a new season!

St. Patrick's Day

I'll jump on the claiming-to-be-Irish train. Here's why:

-Our Westie (Irish descent) is named after my FMIL's maiden name Duffey. We changed it to Duffie since she's a girl, though.
-My fiance's middle name is Cawley, another family name.
-I was born w/red hair (there's Irish blood in there somewhere)
-I'm drawn to greens and blues; and I love wearing them!
Okay, so it's more Mr. SE than myself. But we're getting married- so now we're one in the same. Today I'm wearing a green corduroy shift dress from Loft. It's from last season, otherwise I'd post a picture. Apparently it's not cool to wear colors for holidays when you're in the workplace, seeing as I'm the only person on my hall wearing green. But alas, I enjoy a theme whenever I can get my hands on it! Are you wearing green today?

Here's some of my favorite green goodies for spring!

Weekend Update

Mr. SE and I were quite the busy bees this weekend. I'm still waking up on this dreary Monday morning, so I'll leave you with some simple updates. The Gap Inc. friends and family sale is going on right now. And since you're all my friends- I had to let you in on the fun! 30 % off your entire purchase March 18-21.
This coupon is available for use online and in-store.

I rarely go to starbucks anymore, since I stopped drinking sugar and I mostly prefer the coffee that I brew in our own kitchen. But I had a gift card from my mom, and this drink is AMAZING! You know how sometimes flavorings taste funky- and nothing like the flavor they're supposed to be representing? Not the case here. This drink is positively delicious. I enjoyed the one on Saturday so much, so I picked up another on Sunday.

Rain Rain Go Away

This nasty weather has me thinking about fall: sweaters, scarves, boots, and maybe even a pumpkin latte. But wait. Scratch the pumpkin latte- have you read the nutritional facts online? Gross.

Old Navy has a great fall collection this year, with prices perfect for the SE household. I went over to Opry Mills yesterday, fought the Opry concert traffic to get a spot, and realized that I left my wallet at home in my work bag. Perfect. No, Mr. SE would not drive over from work and pay for my clothes. I asked.
So today I'll try once again to pick up some fall goodies. This time I'll be going to Providence because A) the parking is way better than Opry Mills B) I think it's a little closer and C) I love any excuse to visit Home Goods! What's a fall item that you're lusting after?
