Weekend Wrapup

It was an exciting weekend over here at the Addison house-- I got my clothes! My sweet husband and his cousin worked for 5 hours in our storage unit on Saturday to recover my summer clothes, bags, and shoes. Hallelujah! I'm one excited lady! It was super sweet of Ryan, and we definitely saved money because I would've had to buy some shorts eventually.

As a thank you for helping out, I said it was okay for him to play golf 2x during the weekend and they played again on Sunday. We went to the dog park early in the morning, then they headed to Castle Rock around 1pm. While they were out I got a lot of work done for my company, and prepared for a bride consult this week.

When they returned from golf, I had some appetizers ready. Ryan cooked up some burgers on the rooftop grill, and we watched the season premier of Mad Men. A perfect day to me!

Speaking of Mad Men-- did anybody else watch the premier? I was super excited to have the show back, but I wished I would've watched the last season before the premier. Normally we do that to refresh the story lines and get back up to date, and I was a little confused in the beginning "wait-- Don and Megan are married?" I didn't take long for me to get up to speed. Also, it's weird how Don went from being a family guy in the suburbs to downtown w/a 25 yr old wife and kids sometimes. And it looks like Pete is turning into Don, living in the burbs and hating his life.

Joan's story line was interesting, and I thought it was wild during the baby scene when she came into work...Peggy ended up w/the baby and Pete walked up, then Joan & Roger next to each other with the baby. Is the baby Rogers? I can't remember if we ever found out. My only complaint is that I missed Betty! I always love her fashion and flat character-- sometimes it's funny. Although, based on the preview it looks like she'll be back next week. What did you think of the premier?

Kitchen Cabinets: What To Do?

We're well on our way to building our home! It's a super exciting time, filled with more questions and decisions than I ever thought possible. This week Mr. SE and I headed to the design center in Centennial to pick out all of our finishes, cabinets, stone, and everything else under the sun. Here's what we've chosen so far.

Why two color cabinets? We're going to have our main cabinets one color and the island another. But here's the problem, we can't decide which way to do it. Originally I wanted white on the outside and the island to be dark, but then I realized how much the glazed cabinets are and started considering the alternative for cost reasons. What's your opinion? I've included a poll at the top of the blog-- please sound out!

Hello From Denver: Snow Pictures

Hello From Denver!

While most of you believe that Denver is like Syberia or "winter land" (I did too before I moved here), it's actually the opposite. We moved in early January and experienced several snow storms, but they were intermixed with temps of 35-55 and it's sunny ALL THE TIME. Let me tell you something, when it's 20 degrees and sunny, it really doesn't feel like 20 degrees. And after moving here I started to realize that maybe it wasn't the cold weather that brought me down, but the constantly dreary days of winter I'd always experienced.

Here's some of our snow pictures. More recently when we went to Keystone for the day. Side note-- it's super awesome to be at a ski resort during the day and able to sleep in your own bed at night. This is something I just can't get over. The skiing pictures are intermixed with pictures from our big snow storm in February. And the picture on top? Some of you might recognize that little beauty from our moving announcements. It's a great first family picture from here in the Mile High. 

It looks like we're out of the snow for good, judging by our upcoming 10 day forecast. Notice all the sun? We're not complaining!

Tangerine Tango

Tangerine Tango is THE color of spring. I did a short preview of Pantone's predictions earlier this year, but after shopping a little bit it's become apparent that this color is everywhere! I'm not normally an orange person, but this shade looks good on everyone. Here's some of my favorite picks. What do you think of this color? Too bright? Let me know how you wear it!

Denver Boot Camp

Friends, in an effort to get back in shape, I decided to start Denver Boot Camp along with a friend from work. Last night was our first class, and boy did I need this kick in the pants! During the warm up I was thinking surely we arrived at the Level 2 class and I may/may not puke. The good news is that Scott is super encouraging and reminded us not to over-exert and to know our limits. This is really helpful for someone who's had 5 ankle surgeries!

The one hour class flew by and we did mixes of cardio, weight lifting, and core exercises. When I walked down the steps leaving the gym I was sure my legs had transformed to jello, and I was nervous about how I was going to feel this morning. Good news- I feel great! Not only do I have more energy, but I'm super jazzed about attending class again tonight. If you're in the Denver area, I definitely recommend signing up!
