A Little Bling For The Lady

Is there anything more exciting than that little blue box?

Mr. SE asked me to give him some more specific ideas on rings. I initially wanted a solitaire with pave band, then a simple solitaire, then some trendy Tacori stunners caught my eye. What can I say? I'm a girl! This is the single most important piece of jewelery I'll ever own. I plan on being with Mr. SE for the rest of my life, and this ring will always be on my hand as a sign of my commitment to him and our marriage. So it's clearly a big decision!

We tried on solitaires, along with solitaires with pave bands. I really though I'd go the pave route, until Mr. SE placed that simple beauty on my finger. I do declare! I got a little teary, it seemed positively bridal. I loved it.
Here's a picture of what I'm thinking we'll do. The pave wedding band compliments a solitaire beautifully. I love the contrast between the two rings.
I'd like to point out that I'm only using Tiffany rings for the purpose of a good picture. As I've said before, I'm a super bargain queen and I hope Mr. SE takes the same route. I love a "blue box" as much as the next girl, but I'd also like to save the "Tiffany" engraving on the band and get more bang for the buck! Their rings come with a price tag, and I think Mr. SE can get a good deal somewhere else. But it doesn't mean I don't still drool over their ads!

Did you go back and forth with your ring? Or were you set on the style that you wanted? I'd love to hear comments and stories on this one. I know you all have them! And readers who aren't engaged yet- have you picked a ring together or is it a secret?

I have to admit I had my heart set on a Tacori! I wanted a 3 stone, pave, the whole nine yards...until I tried it on! It ate my poor litte finger...it was huge! So I decided on just having a solitaire on a pave setting but no one company seemed to have exactly what I wanted. So litte did I know M was consulting a jewelry designer who custom made my ring and band from 3 different pictures of rings I liked! I had no idea it was even going on! I have to admit, the second before he opened up that box I was desperately afraid I would hate it but it was exactly what I wanted!! I def would recommend getting it made...it's not as expensive as you would think!!

Well I have to admit I had my ring before I found my hubby. I grew up in NYC so the blue box was such a dream for me. Especially once the Lucida ring came out. I was sold, hubby or not. Little did I know I would actually receive it. The hubby did well to say the least. When we searched for our bands I thought a plain band was it...but changed my mind when I tried on their channel set band. I like it because it stand out when I'm not wearing my e-ring and when I do wear it with it brings out my e-ring.

My ring was a total surprise!! Mr. H had no idea what I wanted - and it wasn't until after he had already ordered the ring that he pretended he needed my help looking at watches on a jeweler's site (whose homepage was all about engagement rings). I obviously started browsing through the various diamond shapes and thought I was dropping hints ("Oooo, isn't a princess cut pretty? Or how about this big round solitare diamond"). He just wanted to know if what he had ordered was something I would like. Well, when Mr. H got down on one knee and opened that little ring box, a big beautiful Princess cut diamond was staring back at me - and I was SHOCKED by how PERFECT the ring was!!! He did good!

However, I do have a best friend, who has a sister in law, who let her hubby pick out the engagement ring without help - and she HATED it!

So... I dont know... you let your man know what you want - it's the safest route!
